About

History

The Department of Statistics was established in 1963 in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. In 1969 the department was transferred to the Faculty of Science and four-year undergraduate program was provided. The master program is also offered. The department has undergraduate major in statistics, with an option for specific area of application such as applied statistics, information technology, biological science and industrial statistics. The M.S. and Ph.D. program stress a balance between statistics theory and practical applications, preparing students for careers in the academic, industry, medical research, business, and agriculture. From its inception, the department has evolved into one of the premier departments of statistics in Thailand. Science 1969 over 1,000 B.Sc. degree and over 150 M.S. degree have been granted.

Objective

  1. Develop modern programs in statistics and applied statistics for teaching students in data analysis and reporting skills applicable in both academic and nonacademic settings.
  2. Set up the data management and statistics unit for students to learn, practice and discuss on the statistical issue via a variety of research projects assigned.
  3. Provide annual short course trainings and workshops for many disciplines of career to enhance knowledge in statistical techniques and be able to apply the appropriate techniques with their works.
  4. Encourage students and faculty to participate in the international conference in statistics and conduct researches with other researchers in related areas.
  5. Collaborate with other departments of statistics both in-country and oversea for technical supports and research publications.
  6. Be an excellent place of statistical learnings and scholar viviting in the region of South-East Asia.
